Krishna Bahadur Karki Appointed New CEO of NEPSE

Krishna Bahadur Karki has been appointed the new CEO of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE).

The post had been vacant ever since Chandra Singh Saud had resigned from his position as CEO after being alleged with illicit obtaining of shares.

A vacancy announcement was then unveiled. 11 applications were received. First, the names of five out of 11 applicants were shortlisted. Three applicants from the five were then shortlisted.

The selection committee had recommended the names of three candidates: Ramesh Bhandari, Krishna Bahadur Karki, and Keshav Shrestha.

The newly appointed CEO Krishna Bahadur Karki was the coordinator of Environment, Compensation Distribution, and Rehabilitation Unit of Budhigandaki Hydropower Project under the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. Karki has a bachelor's degree in public administration and economics. He has also been a deputy secretary in the civil service.

Another shortlisted applicant, Ramesh Bhandari, was CEO at RBB Merchant Banking Limited and Deputy General Manager at Growmore Merchant Banker Limited. He studied Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Financial Management at Savitribai Phule Pune University. Bhandari is also a board member of Sindhu Bikas Bank Limited.

Meanwhile, another applicant Keshav Shrestha has an MBA from Tribhuvan University and studied Management at Mewar University. Shrestha is also the former chairman of NepaliPaisa, a financial news portal. He has since departed from the portal and has been renowned in the investing community as an investment trainer.
