Last Trading Day of Fiscal Year 2078/79 Ends on Unfavourable Note, A Glance Into NEPSE's Overall Performance This Year

The NEPSE index closed at 2,009.46 today after gaining 7.93 points from yesterday's close. This concludes the journey of Nepal's capital market for the current fiscal year, given that today was the last trading day for FY 2077/78. The NEPSE index bounced back 161.18 points from the recent low of 1848.28 and closes at 2,009.46. Still, the NEPSE Index is down by 37.17% from its all-time high (closing) which was created on Aug 18.

The NEPSE index closed at 2,009.46 today after gaining 7.93 points from last trading day's closing. This is a gain of 0.40%. The index had gained 14.71 points yesterday.

The index opened at 2002.96 and went intraday low at 1,989.19. It then made intraday high 2,009.89 at and ultimately closed at 2,009.46 .

231 scrips traded hands via 21,615 transactions. Furthermore, a total of 4,051,771 shares exchanged hands amounting to Rs. 1.456 Arba in the turnover amount. This is lower than yesterday's turnover of Rs. 2.411 Arba.

Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Ltd (UPPER) shares traded the most and had the highest turnover of Rs. 19.72 crores closing at a market price of Rs. 542.

10.25% Machhapuchhre Bank Debenture 2085 (MBLD2085) and 10.5 % NEPAL INVESTMENT DEBENTURE 2082 (NIBD2082) gained the highest 10% and hit the positive circuit for the day.

On the other side of things, GreenLife Hydropower Limited (GLH) lost the highest 5.31% today.

Five out of thirteen sector indices closed green, “Microfinance" gained the highest 1.57 % while "Others" lost the highest 1.68%.

With this, the total market capitalization stands at Rs. 2,869.45 billion, this year NEPSE lost around 1141.29 billion (11.41 Kharba) compared to the figure reported on the last day of the previous fiscal year. In the fiscal year 2078/79, shares worth over Rs 12.10 Kharba were traded through 14,785,755 transactions. The total number of traded shares stands at 2,549,012,477. The market capitalization and floated market capitalization of NEPSE stood at Rs. 2.86 Million and Rs. 1.03 Million respectively.
