Major decision taken by the cabinet meeting at PM’s residence regarding lockdown extension and relief package setup

A cabinet meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar to discuss matters related to lockdown and relief package.
As per the decision made, the nationwide lockdown has been extended till April 7, 2020 while cross border movement of people through Nepal-India and Nepal-China border has also been extended upto April 7, 2020. The supply of essential goods through the borders will be allowed.
For the relief package, the government has decided to set up local level relief funds to help the people affected by the virus. Local level authorities are expected to set up the fund and if any insufficiency arises, the federal government will arrange funds.
Discount of 10% should be offered on products like rice, flour, sugar salt and cooking oil. NEA should provide 25% discount to domestic consumers using upto 150 units per month. Insurance of Rs.2.5. Million to be provided to medics and staff involved in treating COVID-19 patients.
Apart from that, private schools are directed not to chare fee for one month except residential fee and houseowners should not charge fare for one month for tenants working in the informal sector.
