Manakamana Cable Car Service Undergoes Major Upgrade with Cutting-Edge Technology

Nepal’s first passenger cable car service, operated by Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd., has undergone a major upgrade with the installation of advanced D-connect technology by Austrian manufacturer Doppelmayr.

This upgrade, completed over two months for NPR 50 crores, involved replacing the main pole and integrating new digital systems. The service, which had been temporarily suspended, is set to resume on September 17.

Established in 1998 by Laxman Babu Shrestha, the Manakamana Cable Car was Nepal’s pioneering service and has been a model for similar projects in the country. Known for its significant contributions to tourism, the company has received numerous accolades.

The recent transition from analog to digital systems is part of the company’s commitment to modernizing its operations and enhancing safety and efficiency. Managing Director Rajesh Babu Shrestha highlighted the company’s ongoing dedication to technological advancement.
