Market continues downward trend with 15.73 points fall; Turnover also takes a nosedive

The benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) has declined by 15.73 points or 1.05% today to close at 1,489.06 points. Sensitive index, that measures the index of group ‘A’ companies, also lost 1.05% on the week’s last trading day.
Today, NEPSE Index opened at 1,504.79 points and the local bourse was relatively stable for the first 30 minutes, after which it started going downhill.
The total turnover of the day stood at just Rs 45.05, which is Rs 14.73 crore less than yesterday’s Rs 59.78 crore transaction amount. Today, more than 9.44 lakh shares were traded through 5,851 transactions.
Even in this decreasing market, Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) managed to gain almost 10% becoming the highest gainer. Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited (NLIC) topped the list of companies in terms of turnover (Rs 2.59 crore) while Civil Bank Limited (CBL) was traded the most (33,870 units) today.
Shareholders of Nepal Hydro Developer Limited (NHDL), Multipurpose Finance Company Limited (MPFL) and Kailash Bikas Bank Limited (KBBL) lost more than 4% today.
Sensitive and float index went down by 3.33 points and 1.19 points respectively.
All 10 sectors ended up in red today, with Hotels sector losing 2.38%.
