Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav announced on Tuesday that the currently suspended Melamchi Water Supply Project is set to resume water distribution to the Kathmandu Valley by mid-September. Speaking at a National Assembly meeting, Minister Yadav assured that alternative measures have been implemented to address the irregular water supply from the Melamchi project.

The Minister emphasized the government's commitment to securing the dam site and providing regular drinking water to the residents of Kathmandu. He expressed frustration over bureaucratic delays that have hindered some project implementations despite clear directives from the government.

Minister Yadav highlighted the ministry's efforts to complete various ongoing projects promptly and mentioned that an adequate budget has been requested from the Ministry of Finance to support these initiatives. He outlined the government's short-term, medium-term, and long-term plans to ensure clean and safe drinking water for the general public, focusing on the effective implementation of these strategies.

In response to a query from National Assembly member Madan Kumari Shah, Minister Yadav reiterated the government's dedication to fully realizing these plans and assured that water supply through the project's tunnels would resume as soon as weather conditions improve.
