Minister Damodar Bhandari Discusses Trade and Standards with Indian Counterpart Pralhad Joshi

Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, held a meeting with Pralhad Joshi, India’s Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & New and Renewable Energy, in New Delhi on Wednesday evening.

During the meeting, part of Minister Bhandari’s official visit to India, the two discussed key bilateral issues, including Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for Nepali companies and the smooth import of essential commodities such as wheat, rice, and sugar. Minister Bhandari emphasized the need for facilitation in the importation of these goods into Nepal. According to Under-Secretary Tarka Raj Bhatt, who accompanied the Minister, positive discussions were held on this matter.

Additionally, Minister Bhandari sought support for the export and marketing of Nepali products in the Indian market and stressed collaboration between BIS and Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology.
