Minister Ramnath Adhikari Promotes Investment in Nepal's Agriculture at World Food Forum 2024 in Rome
Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, led the Nepali delegation at the World Food Forum 2024 in Rome, Italy, participating in both the multi-stakeholder meeting and the inaugural session.
During the Forum's session on investment, Minister Adhikari called on investors to explore opportunities in Nepal's agriculture sector, highlighting the government's declaration of the Agriculture Investment Decade starting this year. He emphasized Nepal's focus on sustainable agriculture, food security, green production, and transforming agri-food systems.
Adhikari also noted that Nepal’s rich biodiversity plays a key role in agricultural sustainability, positioning the country as a potential model for global food systems.
The Nepali delegation included Chairperson of the parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources, Kusum Thapa, National Planning Commission Vice-Chairperson Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari, and Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha. The Forum, organized by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), began on October 14 and concludes today.
