Ministry of Finance Implements Strategic Budget Management Measures, Including Transfers and Program Amendments
The Ministry of Finance has undertaken a strategic approach towards budget management, employing measures such as budget transfers, program amendments, and augmenting expenditures from the allocation designated under the 'miscellaneous' heading.
As disclosed by the Secretariat of Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun, recent disbursements through government agencies following budget transfers have amounted to Rs 1.63 billion. Additionally, program revisions worth Rs 2.63 billion have been executed, alongside the utilization of Rs 36.50 billion from the allocation earmarked for miscellaneous expenditures.
The practice of reallocating funds among programs within the same budget heading, commonly known as program amendments, has been implemented as part of these initiatives. This approach aligns with the mandates outlined in the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility Act, with the ministry striving to optimize budget expenditure while adhering to the stipulated regulatory framework.
Notably, the Ministry of Health and Population has recorded the highest budget transfers, amounting to Rs 644 million, followed by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, which has undergone transfers totaling Rs 488 million.
