Ministry of Finance Requests Stakeholder Recommendations by End of Baisakh for FY 2081/82 Budget Drafting
The Ministry of Finance has initiated the drafting process for the budget proposal of the upcoming fiscal year 2081/82. In this endeavor, the Ministry has actively sought input from a diverse array of stakeholders, including associations, intellectuals, experts, political parties, businesspersons, social workers, professionals, employees, communication sectors, and the general populace. These stakeholders are encouraged to provide their recommendations by the end of Baisakh, either through the dedicated 'Budget Session' portal on the Ministry's website or via email.
Acknowledging the demanding nature of the budget formulation, the Ministry has advised the Minister and officials involved to prioritize essential tasks and minimize non-essential engagements, including gratuity-seeking interactions. A Budget Drafting Committee, led by the Finance Minister, has been constituted for this purpose, consisting of key secretaries to oversee the process. The Ministry has received necessary directives from the Minister's Secretariat to kickstart the drafting process in a timely manner.
The Ministry emphasized the commitment to transparency and responsiveness to citizens' needs. Consequently, efforts have been made to ensure that the budget formulation process is conducted efficiently, with due consideration given to the suggestions received from various quarters.
Moreover, in adherence to constitutional provisions, the Finance Minister is mandated to present the budget for the new fiscal year in the Federal Parliament on the 15th of Jestha annually. Former Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat had already presented the principles and priorities for the fiscal year 2081/82, which have been subsequently refined based on inputs from lawmakers and endorsed by the Parliament.
