Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has paid Rs. 530.9 million on April 13 toward the loan it had taken to purchase two narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft for international flights. The amount covers the full installment for the narrow-body planes and a partial payment for the wide-body ones.

The national flag carrier had borrowed funds from the Employees Provident Fund and the Citizen Investment Trust for the aircraft procurement. Spokesperson Subash Dangi shared that, as of mid-April 2025, NAC has repaid a total of Rs. 7.40 billion in loan installments.

NAC has also formally requested both lending institutions to waive off interest, compound interest, penalties, and fines that piled up during the COVID-19 period, which had severely impacted its operations. In addition, the corporation is seeking a revised repayment plan with an increased number of installments. Talks are currently ongoing between NAC and the concerned institutions regarding the proposal.
