National Paddy Day and Paddy Plantation Festival Being Observed Today
The National Paddy Day and paddy plantation festival are being observed today across the nation. The Paddy day is observed on Asar 15 in the lunar calendar every year to mark the paddy cultivation season.
Similarly, Asar 15 is also celebrated as the festival of a special delicacy including a mix of curd and beaten rice in the Nepali society.
Nepal started celebrating Asar 15 as National Paddy Day in 2005 as per the minister-level decision held on December 14, 2004.
Paddy saplings are transplanted today with people in the field singing folksongs and throwing muddy water at each other.
