The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has put off the scheduled release of its much-anticipated white paper indefinitely. The document was expected to detail the authority’s performance and financial overview during the leadership of former Managing Director Kulman Ghising, who was recently dismissed.

Sources within the NEA confirmed that the release program was postponed due to unspecified technical reasons. The white paper was originally intended to offer a transparent account of accomplishments and challenges faced under Ghising’s tenure.

Following Ghising’s removal, newly appointed Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya has remarked on multiple occasions about the NEA’s complicated financial condition. Internal sources reveal that the white paper outlines a pending payment obligation of Rs. 11.61 billion as of mid-March in the current fiscal year.

The delay in publication has raised questions within the energy sector, with some speculating whether the shift in leadership influenced the decision to withhold the report.
