The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced the reconnection of power supply to industries whose electricity connections were previously cut off due to unpaid tariffs. This decision follows a directive from the Council of Ministers, which required the NEA to restore power within 24 hours to support industrial operations.

NEA Board Chairperson and Minister of Energy, Deepak Khadka, confirmed the implementation of this decision following yesterday’s board meeting at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. The Cabinet has stipulated that outstanding payments must now be settled based on readings from Time of Day (TOD) meters, with a deadline of 15 days for industries to clear these dues.

Minister Khadka emphasized that NEA will issue invoices for electricity used by industries with dedicated feeder and trunk lines. He warned that NEA employees would face action if invoices are not provided, and industrialists who fail to settle payments within the billing period will also be held accountable.
