Nepal and Germany Conclude Bilateral Talks, Germany Pledges €51 Million in Development Assistance

Bilateral talks between the governments of Nepal and Germany on development assistance concluded in Berlin, Germany's capital. During the discussions, the German government committed to providing 51 million euros in financial and technical assistance to Nepal over the next two years.
The allocated funds will be used to enhance Nepal’s quality health infrastructure and services, promote and develop green and renewable energy, strengthen local government institutions, and support broader economic and social development initiatives.
The Nepali delegation highlighted the crucial role of development partners in helping Nepal achieve its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and sustain progress following its transition from a least developed country to a developing one. The delegation also requested Germany to continue and enhance its support for Nepal's development efforts. In response, the German government expressed its commitment to maintaining collaboration with Nepal on its development objectives.
The discussions also covered various topics, including climate change collaboration, gender equality, environmental sustainability, and poverty reduction.
The Nepali delegation was led by Dhani Ram Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, while Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, led the German side. Nepal’s Ambassador to Germany, Ram Kaji Khadka, was also present during the talks.
