Nepal and India Discuss Petroleum Pipeline Projects and Bilateral Cooperation
Discussions on the construction of the Siliguri-Jhapa petroleum pipeline and the expansion of the Amalekhgunj-Chitwan pipeline took center stage during a meeting between Nepal’s Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, and India’s Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri.
Held in New Delhi on Monday, the meeting addressed several bilateral issues of mutual interest, according to Minister Bhandari's Private Secretariat. The talks also covered the construction of a gas pipeline in Sarlahi, the relocation of Tribhuvan International Airport's petroleum depot, and agreements between Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Nepal Oil Corporation.
Minister Puri assured that India is ready to support these projects once the integrated report from both corporations is submitted. Both sides agreed on the importance of regularly convening meetings of bilateral government mechanisms and reaffirmed India's commitment to Nepal's socio-economic development.
Minister Bhandari is in New Delhi to participate in the Partnership Summit, where he continues to engage in discussions to enhance bilateral ties.
