Nepal and Ireland Discuss Educational Collaboration for Quality Advancements

Nepal and Ireland are exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation and collaboration in the field of education. A delegation from Ireland, led by Jerry Buttimer, Chairperson of the Upper House, engaged in discussions with members of the Nepalese Parliament during a five-day visit to Nepal.

The discussions, organized by the Federal Parliament secretariat, focused on various aspects of education, including the exchange of experiences on quality education, standardized examinations, innovation, research, and youth mobilization. Buttimer emphasized the potential for raising the quality and standards of education through collaboration between the community and civil society.

During the event, Bhanubhakta Joshi, Chairperson of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives, shared insights into a school education bill that the committee is considering to enhance the quality of school education in Nepal.

Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Prof Dr Bhola Thapa, Federal Parliament Secretariat Secretary Dr Rojnath Pandey, and President of Higher Institutions and Secondary Schools' Association Nepal (HISSAN) Ramesh Silwal provided the Irish delegation with an overview of education and academic activities in Nepal. They expressed keen interest in adopting good international practices in education.

The discussions reflect a mutual interest in strengthening educational ties between Nepal and Ireland, paving the way for potential collaborations that could contribute to the advancement of education in both countries.
