Nepal and US Sign Bilateral Consultation Mechanism Agreement
Nepal and the United States have formalized an agreement on a bilateral consultation mechanism aimed at enhancing dialogue on various mutual issues. The agreement was signed during a ceremony at the US State Department on Monday.
Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Acting Undersecretary for Political Affairs, John Bass, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries. The consultation mechanism will enable officials from Nepal's Foreign Ministry and the US State Department to engage in regular discussions in both Kathmandu and Washington DC on a wide range of topics.
The signing ceremony was followed by discussions between the Foreign Affairs Ministers of Nepal and the US, focusing on areas of shared interest. The event was attended by key officials, including Nepal's Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, Charge d'Affaires Kumar Raj Kharel, and Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu.
Following the agreement, Foreign Minister Deuba departed for Doha on Monday.
