Nepal Bank Pledges Rs 20 Million to Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund
Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) has announced a donation of Rs 20 million to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund, aimed at supporting those affected by recent floods, landslides, and inundations.
Dr. Chandra Bahadur Adhikari, Chairman of NBL, along with other bank officials, handed over the cheque to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli yesterday. This contribution is part of the ongoing efforts to provide relief to disaster-hit communities.
Expressing his appreciation, PM Oli emphasized the importance of financial institutions like NBL in promoting investment and industrial growth. He urged NBL to encourage responsible lending and tackle bad debts with strict measures, all while adhering to legal frameworks and systems.
Just a few days prior, on Friday, an additional Rs 34.8 million was contributed by various financial institutions. The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund was established following a decision by the Council of Ministers, which committed an initial Rs 1 billion. Contributions from organizations and individuals continue to pour in to support the fund's cause.
