Nepal Multipurpose Cooperative Exports Tea Worth Rs. 114.3 Million to India
The Nepal Multipurpose Cooperative (NMC) has successfully exported tea worth Rs. 114.3 million to India, amounting to 364,044 kilograms.
Rabindra Pandey, the business chief of NMC, highlighted the cooperative's focus on producing high-quality tea in collaboration with its farmer members. "We buy tea leaves from farmers and process them into finished tea products," Pandey stated.
Operating three tea processing factories in Suryodaya and Maijogmai of Ilam and Mechinagar of Jhapa, the cooperative has affiliated 350 farmers and invested over Rs. 130 million in the tea business.
Under its NMC brand, the cooperative produces Black Tea, Orthodox Tea, and Green Tea. Additionally, it provides direct employment to 52 individuals, further contributing to the region's economic development.
