Nepal Prioritizes Foreign Investment in IT Sector: Joint Venture Agreement Signed Between Nepal and Japan
In a significant move to boost technological collaboration, Nepal's Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, emphasized the government's commitment to attracting foreign investment in the Information Technology (IT) sector. He made these remarks during a program held to formalize a joint venture agreement between IGC Business Holding Nepal and Japan’s Keirinkan Co. Ltd.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Bhandari stated, “The government is prioritizing foreign investment in IT, and we are committed to creating a supportive environment for such ventures. This joint venture marks a new chapter in the technological partnership between Nepal and Japan, and it is a major step forward in strengthening our bilateral relations.”
The joint venture agreement is aimed at advancing digital transformation in Nepal. Ganesh Man Lama, Chairman of IGC Business Holding, remarked that the partnership reflects a shared vision of promoting technological innovation in the country. “This is not merely the signing of a document; it marks the beginning of a collaborative journey between Nepal and Japan, focusing on growth and digital advancement,” said Lama.
Representing Keirinkan Co. Ltd., CEO Satoshi Sato highlighted the importance of the venture in strengthening economic ties between the two nations, with a focus on expanding operations in Nepal. The venture is expected to introduce cutting-edge IT solutions to the local market, driving Nepal’s digital transformation.
The ceremony, attended by prominent figures including former Minister Padam Giri and Yasuyuki Yokoyama, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan to Nepal, concluded with a mutual commitment to growth and innovation through this partnership.
