Nepal Sees 16% Increase in Foreign Tourists in May
Nepal welcomed over 90,000 foreign tourists in May this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). A total of 90,211 foreign tourists visited the country, marking a 16.10 percent increase compared to the same month last year when 77,703 tourists arrived.
NTB Director Maniraj Lamichhane expressed optimism about the growing number of visitors. "Overall, the arrival of tourists seems to be encouraging. Although a significant number of Indian and American tourists entered the country, the number of tourists from China has not increased as per expectation," he noted.
The data reveals that 38,288 tourists came from India, 8,381 from China, and 8,527 from the United States in May. The rise in tourist numbers is seen as a positive development for Nepal's tourism industry, a vital part of the country's economy.
