Nepal Sees Decrease in Foreign Tourist Arrivals Due to Off-Season
The arrival of foreign tourists in Nepal has decreased due to the off-season, with a total of 64,599 tourists arriving by air in July. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, this figure is 11.91 percent higher than the same period last year but significantly lower compared to June, which saw 76,736 tourists.
In July, 21,491 foreign tourists came from India. The US followed with 7,834 tourists, while China accounted for 6,819 visitors. The UK contributed 3,806 tourists, Bangladesh 3,470, Australia 1,901, South Korea 1,537, Malaysia 1,125, and Japan 1,114.
Earlier this year, Nepal experienced higher tourist numbers, with 128,000 foreign visitors in March. However, arrivals dropped to 111,000 in April and further declined to 90,000 in May.
