Nepal Witnesses Positive Shift in Corruption Perception, Climbing to 108th Position in Global Index
Transparency International has reported an improvement in Nepal's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) compared to the previous year, now placing the country at the 108th position with a score of 35.
Nepal has recorded a one-point advancement in the Corruption Perceptions Index from the previous year, where it held the 110th position with a score of 34 in 2022. Similarly, in 2021, it was ranked 117th with a score of 33.
Transparency International's evaluation of corruption across 180 countries positions Denmark as the least corrupt country, securing the top spot with a score of 90. Following Denmark, Finland ranks as the second least corrupt nation, with New Zealand, Norway, and Singapore securing the third, fourth, and fifth positions, respectively. The list also includes Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, and Luxembourg among the top-ranked countries.
In contrast, Somalia holds the 180th position with a score of 11, indicating higher levels of corruption. Additionally, countries such as Venezuela, Syria, South Sudan, Yemen, and others are identified as having elevated corruption levels. Among Nepal's neighboring countries, India ranks 93rd with a score of 39, and China holds the 76th position with a score of 42.
The Corruption Perceptions Index by Transparency International offers insights into the level of corruption in a country's public sector. The compilation of this index involves analyzing data from diverse sources, including surveys and assessments conducted by institutions like the World Bank and the World Economic Forum.
