The Nepalgunj Customs Office has reported a notable increase in revenue collection for the current fiscal year compared to the previous one. Between Shrawan and Falgun, revenue collection has seen a significant uptick of 1.35 percent. During this period, the customs office successfully amassed Rs. 11.59 Arba, showcasing a growth from Rs. 11.43 Arba collected during the corresponding period last year.

Over the course of eight months in this fiscal year, goods valued at approximately Rs. 7.89 Crores have been seized, marking a substantial increase from the previous fiscal year's seizure of goods worth Rs. 2.15 Crores.

The target for revenue collection set for Falgun stood at Rs. 18.77 Arba, out of which Rs. 11.59 Arba has already been attained, accounting for 61.74 percent of the set goal. Notably, imports from India constitute the majority share at 92.87 percent, with the remaining 7 percent comprised of goods from countries including China, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

The bulk of revenue is derived from major commodities such as petroleum products, refined sugar, rice, potatoes, cooking oil, steel wire, betel nuts, drinking water, MS billets, aluminum, betel leaves, and ready-made garments. Nepal also exports goods, including herbal products, to India, contributing to revenue generation. This underscores the significance of items like petroleum products, refined sugar, rice, and other essential goods in driving revenue streams for the country.
