Nepali Congress Calls for Probe into Assets of Public Officials
The Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, has intensified its demand for an investigation into the assets of individuals occupying public positions.
General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma took to social media to underscore the party's longstanding call, dating back to 2047, for the establishment of a high-level investigation committee dedicated to scrutinizing the financial holdings of public officeholders. Sharma emphasized the timeliness of the demand, particularly in light of the recent advocacy by the Rashtriya Swatantra Party for such an initiative.
In his statement, Sharma stressed the necessity for an independent and impartial investigation committee to delve into allegations of cooperative fraud and other financial irregularities dating back to 2047. This call for scrutiny follows a proposal submitted by Deputy Chairperson Dhanraj Gurung, Joint Chief Minister Badri Prasad Pandey, and Jiwan Pariyar, all representing the Nepali Congress, which highlighted the significance of probing the assets of public officials and their families in the interest of public accountability and transparency.
