Nepal's Cement and Clinker Exports Soar to Rs. 2.6 Arba in Seven Months; Magh Alone Witnesses Export Worth Rs. 29 Crores
In a significant surge in cement and clinker exports from Nepal to India, the Department of Customs has reported transactions totaling Rs. 2.6 Arba during the initial seven months of the current fiscal year, spanning from Shrawan to Magh. This marks a noteworthy 168% increase compared to the previous fiscal year's exports of Rs. 77.93 crores.
Leading the export front are prominent players in the Nepalese cement industry, namely Palpa Cement, Arghakhanchi Cement, and Balaji Cement, actively contributing to this upward trend. Specifically, in the month of Magh alone, exports reached an impressive Rs. 29 crores, highlighting the robust demand for Nepalese cement and clinker in the Indian market. During the seven months, a substantial 21 lakh 47 thousand 345 tons of cement and clinker have made their way to India.
This surge in export activity commenced a few years ago, with Nepal breaking into the market in Shrawan 2079. The government's support is evident through an 8 percent cash subsidy provided to cement exporters, further incentivizing the growth of this sector.
