NEPSE Begins Commercial Sale of Official Statistics

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) is all set to begin commercial sale of official data. According to NEPSE, the sale is being made to Baneshwor-based Online Marga Media Private Limited.

According to Murahari Parajuli, Information Officer at NEPSE, Online Marga Media on Monday penned an agreement with NEPSE allowing for data usage. In accordance with the agreement, the company will use the data to create news content. Meanwhile, for presentation on the website NEPSE will provide API to the company registered under media-sector. API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface, which is a software intermediary that allows communication between NEPSE's storage of data and the entity that wants the data.

Marga Media has purchased real-time data package from NEPSE.

Talking to Sharesansar over the phone, Parajuli confirmed that the company is liable to pay Rs. 40,000 each month for having access to all official data from NEPSE while an additional Rs. 2 lakhs will have to be paid as initial installation charges.

The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) had sanctioned the Data Usage Procedure 2077 after which NEPSE had published a notice attracting potential pool of applicants.

In response to the notice by NEPSE that had provided a deadline of 35 days for interested companies, eight companies had submitted applications seeking data access. Among the pool, Online Marga Media Private Limited has been sought ideal.

NEPSE had set pre-conditions for companies including a paid-up capital limit of minimum Rs. 50 lakhs, operation period of at least three past consecutive years and employment of at least 10 individuals.

Earlier, Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) had approved and unveiled a Directory for the use of its real-time and historical data.

Later, Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) had approved the Nepal Stock Exchange's (NEPSE) data usage policy. With the protocol app roved, Nepal Stock Exchange was free to sell its data.
