NEPSE Drops 1.12% Following Budget Announcement Yesterday; Banking Sector Suffers Most

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index fell by 1.12%, a decrease of 23.81 points, closing at 2,089.42 points at the end of today's trading session. This decline follows a slight increase of 3.93 points in the previous trading day.

The trading day began with the index at 2,133.73 points, reaching an intraday high of 2,153.39 points. The index, however, dipped to a low of 2,086.44 points before settling at 2,089.42 points.

A total of 314 stocks were traded across 63,080 transactions today. The volume of shares traded amounted to 10,738,169, with a total turnover of Rs. 4.57 Arba. The market capitalization was recorded at Rs. 33.13 Kharba, while the float market capitalization stood at Rs. 11.26 Kharba.

Pokhara Finance Ltd. (PFL) recorded the highest turnover, reaching Rs. 19.52 crores, closing at a market price of Rs. 768.

Additionally, four companies hit the positive circuit limit today.

Conversely, Buddha Bhumi Nepal Hydropower Company Limited (BNHC) saw a significant decline, losing 9.41% to close at Rs. 587.

In sector performance, four sector indices closed in the green. The "Manufacturing and Processing" sector experienced the highest gain of 2.68%, while the "Banking Index" suffered a loss of 2.94%.
