NEPSE Index Drops Below 3,000, Closes at 2,966.33 with Overall Turnover of Rs. 28.83 Arba; Market Cap at Rs. 47.11 Kharba

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index witnessed a sharp decline today, dropping from the 3,000 mark to close at 2,966.33 points, a decrease of 34.47 points or 1.14% from the previous session. Last Thursday, the index had gained 43.05 points, closing just above 3,000 levels at 3,000.81 points.
The trading day saw the index open at 3,017.2 points and fluctuate significantly, reaching an intraday high of 3,048.15 points and a low of 2,945.49 points before settling at its closing value.
Intense trading activity marked the session, with 330 scrips traded across 300,918 transactions, involving 65,475,366 shares and resulting in a turnover of Rs. 28.83 Arba. The market capitalization soared to Rs. 47.11 Kharba, while the float market capitalization reached Rs. 16.61 Kharba.
Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) led the market in turnover, with Rs. 82.14 Crores, closing at Rs. 958 per share.
Four companies hit the upper circuit limit of 10%.
Meanwhile, Nepal Finance Ltd. (NFS) experienced the biggest loss, dropping by 10%.
Sector-wise, the "Banking Index" led with a 0.84% increase, while the "Hotels and Tourism Index" saw the largest decline, falling by 4.49%, rounding out a day marked by both significant gains and losses across the market.
