NEPSE Index Slides 0.89%, Barun Hydropower Tops Turnover Charts

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index witnessed a decline of 18.76 points today, a decrease of 0.89%, closing at 2,076.49 points. This follows a loss of 17.04 points in the previous trading session.

The trading day commenced with the index at 2,098.6 points, reaching an intraday high of 2,099.02 points. The index experienced a low of 2,073.91 points before settling at the closing value of 2,076.49 points.

Today's trading session involved 318 stocks across 58,119 transactions, with a total trading volume of 9,544,734 shares. The overall turnover reached Rs. 4.05 Arba.

Barun Hydropower Co. Ltd. (BARUN) led the market in terms of turnover, achieving Rs. 11.27 Crores and closing at Rs. 308 per share.

Samaj Laghubittya Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SAMAJ) hit the positive circuit, surging by 10% to close at Rs. 2,409.

Conversely, MKLB and KBSH faced significant losses, dropping by 10% each.

In sector performance, all sector indices concluded the day in negative territory. The "Banking Index" recorded the highest sectoral loss of 1.16%, while the "Manufacturing and Processing Index" saw the least loss, declining by 0.52%.
