NEPSE Index Surges 1.33% in Today's Trading Session: Hotel and Tourism Sector Leads with 5.99% Gain

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index closed at 2,696.65 points today, marking an incline of 35.55 points, or 1.33%, from the previous trading day's close. This follows a session that saw negative movement yesterday with a loss of 20.46 points.

The trading day commenced with the index opening at 2,669.41 points. Throughout the session, the index reached an intraday low of 2,609.02 points and an intraday high of 2,709.89 points before settling at its closing value.

In today's session, a total of 329 scrips were traded through 206,643 transactions, resulting in a substantial volume of 40,371,778 shares. This activity led to an impressive turnover of Rs. 17.26 Arba while the market capitalization for the day stood at Rs. 42.78 Kharba, while the float market capitalization was Rs. 14.78 Kharba.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) led the market in turnover, achieving a value of Rs. 60.10 crores and closing at Rs. 695.30.

In terms of stock performance, six companies emerged as the highest gainers, hitting 10% each.

Conversely, Asian Hydropower Limited (AHL) experienced the steepest decline, falling by 10%.

Analyzing the sector indices, four sector indices ended the day in negative territory. The Hotel and Tourism Index led the gains with a 5.99% increase, while the Banking Index experienced the highest loss, declining by 0.76%.
