NEPSE kicks off Visit Nepal 2020 with massive gain in the Hotels sector; benchmark index stood at 1169.50 points

The market kicked off the New Year with gain of 0.30% or 3.47 points. The benchmark index stood at 1169.50 points at the beginning of 2020. The turnover amount stood at Rs.37.29 Crore achieved through trade of 1,175,313 units of shares traded through 6,174 transactions trading scrips of 176 listed companies in the process.
Since it is also the beginning of Visit Nepal 2020, hotels dominated the trade today. Oriental Hotels Limited (OHL) posted the highest turnover at Rs.2.95 Crore with LTP of Rs.499 per share. Soaltee Hotel Limited (SHL) stood ahead in terms of volume with trade of 97,665 units of shares. The LTP stood at Rs.204 per share.
All the three listed Hotels hit the positive circuit today. Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH) gained the most at 9.96% followed by Oriental Hotels Limited (OHL) at 9.91% and Soaltee Hotel Limited (SHL) at 9.68%. Goodwill Finance Limited (GFCL) was today’s top loser as it lost 5.79% or 8 points and closed at Rs.130 per share.
Sensitive Index gained 0.97 points and closed at 253.28 points while Float Index gained 0.25 points and closed at 86.60 points.
Hotels sector gained the most today at 9.22% or 168.32 points as the three listed hotels hit the positive circuit. Finance, Non-Life Insurance, Others and Life Insurance were among losing sub-indices while the rest of the sub-indices gained points.
