NEPSE loses double digits amidst COVID-19 fear to stand at 1313.04 points; seven companies hit the negative circuit and only three scrips gain

The market opens for the week with loss of double digit points. The benchmark index lost 4.66% or 64.14 points and close at 1313.04 points today. The extended regulation time didn’t seem to impact the trade as the turnover remained at Rs.2.10 Arba which was achieved through trade of 5,570,030 units of shares traded through 24,041 transactions trading scrips of 174 listed companies in the process.

Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited (NLIC) posted the highest turnover of Rs.17.36 Crore with LTP at Rs.1100 per share. Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) stood ahead in terms of volume with trade of 257,710 units of shares. The LTP of the commercial bank stock stood at Rs.266 per share.

Only three scrips managed to gain today, they were United Modi Hydropower (UMHL), Sindhu Bikas Bank (SNDU) and Womi Laghubitta (WOMI). Out of seven companies that hit the negative circuit today, six were microfinance companies. Samudayik Laghubitta (SLBSL) and Himalayan General Insurance (HGI) lost the most at 10% each.

Sensitive Index lost 12.88 points and closed at 282.62 points while Float Index lost 4.62 points and closed at 93.16 points.

All sub-indices ended in the red zone today after losing points. Life Insurance, Non-Life Insurance and Trading sectors were among top losers.
