NEPSE Soars: Rs. 4.57 Arba Turnover With 2.29% Index Surge in Rollercoaster Trading Day, All Sector Indices Close Green

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a highly volatile trading day today, with the NEPSE Index gaining 47.04 points, marking an increase of 2.29% and closing at 2,100.43 points.
Today's trading session on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) was notably volatile, starting with a significant pre-opening surge of 32.44 points. When trading officially commenced at 11 AM, the NEPSE Index saw a rapid increase of 4.01% or 82.48 points, soaring to 2,135.87 points within a minute of the market opening. Such a sharp rise triggered an automatic 20-minute trading halt to allow the market to stabilize.
After the trading halt concluded at 11:21 AM, trading resumed with another surge, this time by 5%. This surge prompted a second temporary halt of 40 minutes in trading within a minute, aimed at preventing excessive volatility. During these halts, the total turnover amounted to Rs 14.17 Crore, reflecting the heightened trading activity and investor interest.
Subsequently, trading resumed at 12:02 PM, but the market couldn't sustain its earlier gains. The NEPSE Index closed at 2,100.43 points by the end of the trading day, representing a positive change of 2.29% from the previous day's closing level. This fluctuation demonstrated the dynamic nature of today's trading session, influenced by rapid price movements and significant investor participation across various stocks.
Throughout the day, 315 stocks were traded in 60,720 transactions, totaling 11,645,905 shares exchanged. The overall turnover for the day stood at Rs. 4.57 Arba.
NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) led in turnover with Rs. 12.33 Crores, closing at Rs. 680.50 per share.
Meanwhile, Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) recorded the highest gain of 8.54%.
Conversely, Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (ULBSL) incurred the largest loss of 6.46%.
Sector-wise, the "Manufacturing And Processing" showed the highest gain of 3.30%, while the "Mutual Fund Index" gained the least 0.36%.
