The Government of Nepal has announced a public holiday from Sunday, Mangsir 30 in observance of Udhauli Parva and Yomari Punhi. During this period, the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will be closed, with trading set to resume on Monday, Poush 01, 2081, at 11:00 AM.
Yomari Punhi, a traditional Newari festival, coincides with the full moon day of Thinlā, the second month in the lunar Nepal Era calendar (November/December). This festival signifies the end of the rice harvest and is celebrated with the preparation and consumption of yomari, a sweet rice flour delicacy.
Udhauli Parva is a festival the Kirat community observes to express gratitude to nature for providing a bountiful harvest. As part of the festivities, people from the hills migrate to lower regions to escape the harsh winters of the Himalayas.
