NEPSE to Remain Closed Today, Govt Declares Public Holiday on The Occasion of Bhoto Jatra

The Government of Nepal has announced a public holiday for Sunday (today) i.e. on the 20th of Shrawan on the occasion of "Bhoto Jatra".
Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed to mark Bhoto Jatra. Regular trading will resume in NEPSE from Monday (21st Shrawan, 2081) at 11:00 AM.
Bhoto Jatra is a significant cultural festival celebrated in Kathmandu, Nepal, showcasing a sacred jewel-studded vest, known as "bhoto," to the public. This event is part of the month-long Rato Machindranath Jatra, honoring the rain god Machindranath. The festival's highlight is the display of the bhoto from the chariot, symbolizing blessings and protection. It attracts large crowds, including the presence of the Living Goddess Kumari and the President of Nepal. Bhoto Jatra reflects the rich traditions and vibrant cultural heritage of the Newar community.
