NEPSE to Remain Closed Today, Govt Declares Public Holiday on The Occasion of Tamu Lhosar

The Government of Nepal has announced a public holiday for Sunday (today) i.e. on the 15th Poush on the occasion of the 'Tamu Lhosar' festival of Gurung Communities.
Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed to mark Tamu Lhosar. Regular trading will resume in NEPSE from Monday (Poush 16, 2080) at 11:00 AM.
Tamu refers to the Gurung community, while Lhosar refers to the new year. Today is the new year for the Gurung community. Lhosar symbolizes the farming lifestyle and connection to nature, with different parts sharing the same purpose of welcoming the new year. Today, the Tamu community joyfully welcomes their new year worldwide. The festival occurs annually on Poush 15th.
