The Government of Nepal has declared a public holiday today, Wednesday, corresponding to the 19th of Baishakh, in celebration of 'International Labour Day'.
In observance of International Labour Day, the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will be closed. Trading activities will resume on Thursday, the 20th of Baishakh, 2081, starting at 11:00 AM.
Yesterday, the NEPSE Index experienced a rise of 1.30%, increasing by 25.93 points to close at 2,006.28 points.
International Labour Day, celebrated each year on May 1st, honors the contributions of workers and the labor movement. It recalls the historic battles and achievements of workers and unions, emphasizing their ongoing struggle for fair working hours, improved wages, and safer working environments.
