NEPSE Witnessed Huge Gain of 45.69 Points; Records Highest Turnover In 3.5 Months

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index saw a gain of 2.26%, or 45.69 points, settling at 2,064.45 points at the close of trading today, following a minimum of 0.79 points in the previous session.
Today, the market opened with a gain of 26.04 points, representing a 1.29% change during the pre-open session. Opening at 2,044.81, the trading day witnessed fluctuations as the index reached an intraday high of 2,068.91 before dipping to an intraday low of 2,028.07.
In the monetary policy review, the Central Bank has increased the allowance for banks and financial institutions to sell up to 20% of their primary capital from investments per fiscal year, up from the previous 1%. However, banks are restricted from purchasing in the BFIs sector and instead, they can buy the other sectors like the manufacturing and processing sector, life and non-life insurance sectors.
With a bustling trading environment, 323 stocks were exchanged in 74,991 transactions. The volume of shares traded amounted to 12,240,802 with a total turnover of Rs. 5.25 Arba, this is the highest turnover after 3.5 months. Last time on 31st January 2024, the turnover was Rs. 5.29 Arba. Market capitalization stood at Rs. 32.73 Kharba, with a float market capitalization of Rs. 11.11 Kharba.
CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited (CHDC) emerged as the day's highlight with a turnover of Rs. 14.80 Crore, closing at a market price of Rs. 836.30.
Similarly, Four Companies hit a positive circuit for today.
Conversely, Mandu Hydropower Limited (MANDU) faced a decline, losing 9.99% to close at Rs. 869.50.
In terms of sector indices, all the sectors closed in green today. The "Life Insurance Index" saw the highest gain of 4.38%, while the "Trading Index" saw the lowest gain of 0.55%.
