New banknotes exchange for Dashain from Oct 2: Nepal Rastra Bank

As the biggest Nepali festival Dashain is just round the corner, the Nepal Rastra Bank is preparing to open the service to exchange new banknotes from October 2.
The central bank said on Wednesday the members of general public can exchange as much as Rs 37,000 each from its Currency Management Division.
Exchange service would be available from the other branches of NRB and other banks also.
Personnel from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force and civil servants can get more notes upon submitting an official document, as per the availability, the NRB said in a statement.
According to the NRB, banks graded ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ as well as other financial institutions can exchange notes from the bank’s Thapathali-based CMD from September 25 to 30.
The BFIs have been directed to use the notes to let members of the public exchange their cashes with local banks and branches from October 2.
Banks and their branches outside the Valley have also been directed to provide the services.
