Parliamentary Probe Committee to Investigate Cooperative Funds Misappropriation, ToR to be Finalized Today
A seven-member parliamentary probe committee is being formed to investigate the misappropriation of cooperative funds. Major political parties are expected to finalize the formation of the committee today.
According to party leaders, the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the parliamentary probe committee will be established in advance. A task force meeting scheduled for 11 AM on Tuesday will finalize the ToR.
The parliamentary committee will consist of two members each from the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML, and one member each from the CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). The committee will have a three-month timeframe to complete its investigation and submit a report.
The NC has been advocating for the formation of this committee to investigate allegations of fund misappropriation involving RSP Chairman and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
Despite initial agreements initiated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to form the committee, the parties had previously struggled to reach a consensus on the ToR.
