Performance of Secondary Market in FY 2076/ 77: A NEPSE Summary

NEPSE has made a press release summarizing the performance of the secondary market for the fiscal year 2076/ 77.
In this fiscal year, a total of 1 Kharba, 50 Arba, 3 crores, and 94 lakhs rupees worth of transactions were made. This figure is higher by 36.31% compared to the fiscal year of 2075/ 76.
38% of this total transaction was made online.
Compared to the 38 crores 75 lakhs and 6 thousand unit shares that changed hands in the previous fiscal year, a total of 42 crores 85 lakhs and 22 thousand unit shares were traded in the fiscal year 2076/ 77. 40% of this total shares were traded online.
Similarly, compared to the 14 lakh, 22 thousand 791 total transactions made in the previous fiscal year, in the year 2076/ 77, a total of 18 lakh, 48 thousand, and 773 transactions were made. Meanwhile, 57% of transactions were made online.
33,429 investors have opened an online account as of now. 64372 investors traded offline while 8944 traded online in this fiscal year.
82 crores, 43 lakhs rupees were traded daily on average. In contrast, only 43 crores, 50 lakh rupees were the average transaction amount per day in the previous fiscal year.
By the end of Ashadh 2077, the total market capitalization is Rs. 17 Kharba, 92 Arba, 76 crores, and 26 lakhs.
During the last trading day of the fiscal year 2076/ 77, the NEPSE index closed at 1362.35.
Furthermore, 228 transactions amounting to 1 Arba 89 crores 6 lakh rupees were made Over-The-Counter (OTC) for 19 companies.
According to the release, Nepal Rashtra Bank has disinvested its 10% ownership of NEPSE to Sanchaya Kosh, 5% to Prabhu Bank, and 5% to Laxmi Bank.
Additionally, the beta version of NEPSE's new website has been circulated for constructive criticism.
