Personal stories amid Covid 19 lockdown; Positive Messages from our readers to our readers
The lockdown initially became a tough time for me to handle, so much so that I started slipping into anxiety and sleep disorder. Yeah you read that right! I even started using a psychiatric drug; of course in a small doze for 15 days. The constant media bombardment about the Covid news did more harm to me than good. Each time I read any Covid related news, I found my stomach churning for some unknown fear. My suspiciousness towards strangers as carriers of Covid virus confined me inside my room that resulted to problematic bowel habit, painful muscle movement, altered sleep and feeding cycle in me.
Fortunately, the normalcy is slowly returning now. I am at least sleeping some five hours every night, bodily pain and improper bowel signs are slowly fading away. However the change didn’t happen overnight. These days, I begin my day with JPMR (Progressive Muscle Relaxation) exercise followed by a brief meditation, which together relaxes both my muscular stress and emotional blockages. I also spend some more time in a range of physical exercises and exhausting running exercise inside my home. Besides, I am reading a lot of memoirs of famous and inspiring people that is also helping me to stay positive. Whenever I find some time, I also help my mom and sis in their kitchen chores. Believe me, maintaining a regular friendly conversation with your family also gives you positive outlook towards life.
I also catch up regularly with a couple of my good friends via phone and messenger and that’s quite therapeutic in nature. I am also working to improve in mathematics portion of PSC syllabus because I have learnt it hard way that when you don’t challenge the free time then the time will challenge you. Besides, I am learning to stay at bay from frequenting the social media and news portals as far as possible. Lastly, I have started to write down about my feelings and emotions that allows me to ventilate myself safely. Believe me, I read it in Anne Frank’s Diary “Paper has more patience than people” and it’s true.
