Phenomenal Day! NEPSE Index Soars Beyond 2,300 After Two Years, Closes with Stunning 3.13% Surge; Overall Volume Reached Rs. 9.13 Arba

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index experienced a remarkable surge past the 2300 mark for the first time in two years, closing at an impressive 2,310.59 with a substantial gain of 70.18 points or 3.13% from the previous trading day's close. This significant milestone was last seen on May 12, 2022, when the index closed at 2,350.42.

Today's dramatic rise in the NEPSE Index highlights a significant positive sentiment among traders and investors, marking a significant achievement in the stock market after a two-year hiatus.

The trading session began with the index opening at 2,243.07 points, reaching an intraday low of 2,231.83 points and an intraday high of 2,310.84 points before settling at its closing value of 2,310.59.

During the day's trading, a total of 315 scrips were exchanged through 119,011 transactions. The volume of shares traded amounted to 25,836,285, resulting in a considerable turnover of Rs. 9.13 Arba. This marks the highest turnover in the past 6 months, with the last peak recorded on January 17, 2024, at Rs. 9.76 Arba. The market capitalization stood at Rs. 36.66 Kharba, and the float market capitalization was Rs. 12.56 Kharba.

Leading the market, Ngadi Group Power Ltd. (NGPL) recorded the highest turnover with a value of Rs. 21.77 crores and closed at Rs. 369.90.

In terms of individual stock performance, six companies achieved the highest gains of 10% each, reaching the positive circuit for the day.

In contrast, three scrips lost all 10% for the day.

Regarding sector indices, only the Mutual Fund Index declined, while the Hydropower sector registered the highest gain with an increase of 5.45%. The Finance Index sector gained the least 1.85%.
