Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is gearing up for a meeting with his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, this Friday in Bangkok. As per Oli’s Secretariat, the two leaders will sit down for talks at around 4 PM at the Shangri-La Hotel following the conclusion of the BIMSTEC summit.

PM Oli is currently in Bangkok to take part in the sixth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). Indian Prime Minister Modi has also arrived in the Thai capital to join the summit.

On Friday, heads of government from BIMSTEC member states—including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka—will deliver their official addresses. The day will kick off with a welcome speech by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who is hosting the summit. One of the key items on the agenda is the signing of the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Cooperation agreement, expected to bolster regional connectivity.

After the speeches and formal endorsement of the summit agendas, PM Shinawatra will host a press conference to wrap up the event.

Prime Minister Oli’s meeting with PM Modi will take place once the summit proceedings conclude. The two are expected to discuss matters of mutual interest, regional collaboration, and ways to further enhance Nepal-India ties.

Later in the evening, PM Oli will attend a reception hosted by the Nepali Embassy in Thailand to connect with the Nepali diaspora.
