PM Oli Appeals to Airlines to Keep Fares Stable Amid Rainfall-Induced Disruption
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged airlines not to increase ticket prices during the ongoing crisis caused by continuous rainfall and landslides. Currently attending the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Oli addressed concerns raised on social media regarding inflated airfare prices amid road closures.
With road transportation heavily impacted, many travelers are relying on flights for essential journeys. In a Facebook post on Sunday, Oli appealed to airline companies to maintain regular fares, emphasizing that passengers should not face additional financial strain during this challenging time.
"Heavy rains and landslides have made road travel difficult, and there have been complaints about higher airfares. I urge airlines to help passengers by keeping prices at their usual levels," Oli wrote. He also highlighted that the Ministry of Tourism has taken measures for air travelers and rescue flights, stressing the importance of collective efforts to overcome the current natural disaster.
