PM Oli Asserts Commitment to Address National Issues and Drive Economic Change with Flexible Monetary Policy
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli emphasized that the new government was formed to address the nation's problems and implement significant changes. Speaking with office-bearers of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) today, Prime Minister Oli made it clear that his assumption of the Prime Ministerial role was driven by a strong commitment to resolving existing issues and bolstering the country’s economy, rather than personal ambition.
He stated, "The main objective of the incumbent government is to resolve the existing problems and to strengthen the country's economy. I became the Prime Minister this time with the determination to resolve the problems and to make some changes in the country, and not only for the post. So the private sector should work together with the government, believing in it."
Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of a stable tax rate and encouraged the private sector to protest against misguided policies. He also highlighted the need for a flexible monetary policy to invigorate the economy.
CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal urged the government to prioritize economic revitalization, noting that the economy has slowed down over the past three years. While the external sector shows promise, the domestic economy, particularly the productive and construction sectors, remains troubled. He stressed the importance of boosting private sector morale to reinvigorate the sluggish economy.
Former CNI Presidents Bishnu Kumar Agrawal, Satish Kumar Mor, and Haribhakta Sharma, along with Vice-Presidents Nirvan Chaudhary, Birendra Raj Pandey, Raj Bahadur Shah, Amit Mor, and Bhim Ghimire, and governing council members Shiva Ratan Sharada, Yogeshwar Lal Shrestha, and Bal Krishna Shrestha, shared insights on the current economic situation and provided suggestions to the Prime Minister for improvement.
