Pokhara Metropolitan City Launches 'Pokhara for All Seasons' Scheme to Boost Tourism
The Pokhara Metropolitan City (PMC) has announced the 'Pokhara for All Seasons' scheme to attract tourists and boost the local tourism industry. This initiative, launched in partnership with the private sector, aims to draw visitors to the city renowned for its lakes and captivating landscapes.
In addition, PMC has designated 2025 as the Pokhara Visit Year, with plans to attract at least 1.5 million tourists. Mayor Dhan Raj Acharya revealed these plans while presenting the Metropolis's annual policies and programmes for the fiscal year 2024/25. The Metropolis will collaborate with the federal and provincial governments, as well as private sectors, to achieve this ambitious target.
To implement the Tourism Capital Pokhara Integrated Strategy, an action plan will be developed to ensure planned development in Pokhara, the provincial capital of Gandaki Province. Mayor Acharya also mentioned the 'One Ward One Special Programme,' which aims to identify and leverage the unique identities and potentials of each of the city's 33 wards. The newly unveiled policies also highlight the organization of investment meetings and events to attract domestic and foreign investments through policy and procedural reforms, and the use of electronic media to promote tourism by preparing destination profiles of major tourist spots within the Metropolis.
