Pokhara's Tire Recycling Startup Wins Nepal's Best Startup Award
The tire recycling startup, TRF Upcycles Nepal, has been named the best startup in Nepal after winning the Nepal finals of the Startup World Cup held in Kathmandu. Organized by Startup Hub Nepal, the competition saw the top 10 startups pitch their ideas, with TRF Upcycles emerging victorious.
This event marked the first time Justin Jackson, a partner in the founding company of the Startup World Cup, visited Nepal for the finals. He emphasized the need for an improved startup ecosystem in the country.
Industry Minister Damodar Bhandari highlighted government efforts to support startups, while Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, and Industry Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut stressed the importance of government support for startups.
American Embassy representative Mark Templer noted the success of entrepreneurship in the U.S. and its support for Nepalese startups. Kathmandu District Coordination Committee head Santosh Budhathoki underscored the importance of startups for national development.
The Startup World Cup, organized globally in about 100 countries by Pegasus Tech Ventures, was hosted in Nepal by World Trade Group Nepal through StartupHub Nepal. Bijay Kafle, the winner, will compete in the global competition in Silicon Valley, with a chance to win an investment prize of one million dollars.
